What I really like about working for REACH is that I am able to combine both technical and the human aspects in my work. It’s a job which certainly includes many hours behind a computer with a lot of complications (especially in this part of the world), but it’s also work that allows you to “live the humanity”. This is a job that allows you to meet people, travel, talk, share and build.
There is an element of backstage work, but also of field work. Work is sometimes done quietly under an air conditioning unit and sometimes in very hot conditions, both from a temperature and a security point of view! This is an exciting and dynamic job where you never get bored. Such a role presents many challenges and requires significant openness and selflessness to practice it; but in the end, you don’t forget that behind the GPS points and beautiful maps, there are human beings. Humans who need help.
To do this work properly, which still remains pretty technical, we need to be in contact with the people who benefit from it; REACH Initiative allows me to do that. It’s this balance between the technical and human aspect that I really like: to use new technologies to help improve the lives of people.
