L’ONG IMPACT Initiatives, en association avec l’École Normale Supérieure Paris-Saclay (ENS Paris-Saclay), annoncent la quatrième edition du stage en mémoire d’Antonin Girardi, normalien à l’ENS Paris-Saclay entre 2015 et 2019, et de tous les travailleurs humanitaires victimes de violences perpétrées à leur encontre. Ce stage, qui se déroule au sein de l’équipe de recherche d’IMPACT Initiatives à Genève, permet aux étudiants de l’ENS Paris-Saclay de mettre leurs compétences au service de certaines des populations les plus vulnérables au monde.
Le 9 août 2020, Antonin Girardi et six autres collègues ont perdu la vie dans une attaque à Kouré, au Niger. Antonin et ses collègues travaillaient en tant qu’humanitaires au sein de l’équipe d’IMPACT Initiatives, au service des populations vulnérables du Niger.
Antonin Girardi était étudiant au Magistère d’économie de Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne durant l’année universitaire 2014-2015, il a ensuite poursuivi ses études au département d’économie et de gestion de l’ENS Paris-Saclay, puis est devenu assistant de recherche au sein du Centre de Recherche en Économie et Statistiques (CREST) de Polytechnique et de l’ENSAE. Il s’était spécialisé en économie géographique et de l’environnement. Il avait participé à plusieurs missions humanitaires. Après avoir rejoint IMPACT Initiatives en novembre 2019, Antonin a participé à un travail de recherche au Niger visant à caractériser la situation et les besoins des populations déplacées par les conflits. Ce travail a permis aux acteurs sur le terrain d’identifier les personnes aux besoins les plus sévères, afin de leur apporter l’aide appropriée, au moment adéquat.
Depuis 2022, le stage Antonin Girardi, créé par IMPACT Initiatives en association avec l’ENS Paris-Saclay, permet à d’autres étudiants de l’ENS Paris-Saclay de rejoindre une organisation non-gouvernementale (ONG) de premier plan, spécialisée dans la recherche appliquée dans les contextes humanitaires. Le.la stagiaire pourra, au sein du siège de Genève, contribuer aux travaux de recherche, en lien avec les projets menés sur les terrains de crise. Cette experience est une occasion unique d’appliquer des compétences de recherche avancée, dans un environnement de travail international axé sur l’action humanitaire. A la fin du stage, le travail est présenté à l’équipe d’IMPACT, aux étudiants et professeurs de l’ENS Paris-Saclay qui souhaitent le lire, ainsi qu’à la famille d’Antonin.
Lors de la troisième édition 2024-2025 du stage , Théophile Mulot, étudiant en économie à l’ENS, a pu travailler auprès des équipes de recherche, en soutenant notamment les missions pays dans l’approfondissement et l’amélioration de la qualité des analyses. Il a pu présenter ses travaux fin mars 2025.

Internship in memory of Antonin Girardi
IMPACT Initiatives, in association with the École Normale Supérieure Paris-Saclay (ENS Paris-Saclay), is pleased to announce the fourth edition of an internship in memory of Antonin Girardi, a normalien at ENS Paris-Saclay between 2015 and 2019, and in tribute to all humanitarian workers who have lost their lives to violence. This internship, hosted within the research team at IMPACT Initiatives in Geneva, allows students from ENS Paris-Saclay to apply their skills in service of some of the most vulnerable populations in the world.
On 9 August 2020, Antonin Girardi and six colleagues lost their lives in an attack in Kouré, Niger. Antonin and his colleagues were in Niger as humanitarians, putting their expertise and commitment at the service of vulnerable communities.
Antonin Girardi studied at the Magistère d’économie at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne during the 2014–2015 academic year, before continuing his studies in the Department of Economics and Management at ENS Paris-Saclay. He then became a research assistant at the Center for Research in Economics and Statistics (CREST) of Polytechnique and ENSAE. He specialized in geographical and environmental economics and participated in several humanitarian missions. After joining IMPACT Initiatives in November 2019, Antonin contributed to research in Niger aimed at analyzing the situation and needs of populations displaced by conflict. This work enabled humanitarian actors to better identify those most in need and provide timely, appropriate assistance.
Since 2021, the Antonin Girardi Internship, created by IMPACT Initiatives in partnership with ENS Paris-Saclay, has offered students the opportunity to join a leading non-governmental organization (NGO) working at the intersection of research and humanitarian response. Based at the Geneva headquarters, interns contribute to research across various crisis contexts. The internship offers a unique opportunity to apply advanced research skills in an international environment focused on humanitarian action. Each intern’s work is presented to the IMPACT team, to students and professors at ENS Paris-Saclay, and to Antonin’s family.
During the third 2024–2025 edition of the internship, Théophile Mulot, an economics student at ENS, worked alongside the research teams, supporting country missions in deepening and improving the quality of their analyses. He presented his work at the end of March 2025.
