Country Overview
On Sunday, March 4th in 2012, an ammunition depot exploded in the capital of the Republic of Congo, Brazzaville. The explosion affected an estimated of 125,000 people and caused significant human losses and physical damage, leading to high numbers of internal displacement.
In the aftermath of the disaster, IMPACT deployed a REACH team to Brazzaville to support the humanitarian response by carrying out a rapid assessment on displacement and damage, collecting information through field interviews and by analysing images derived from remote sensing.
