Niger et RCA: les acteurs locaux au cœur de la réponse
The conflict in Yemen has resulted in one of the world’s most dire humanitarian disasters, with much of the country’s infrastructure destroyed, large-scale displacement, and severe food insecurity. According to the 2021 Humanitarian Needs Overview, close to 66 percent of the country’s population in need of humanitarian assistance. Out of a population of 29 million people, 15.4 million people lack access to safe drinking water or sanitation, 20.1 million people lack access to adequate healthcare, and 13.5 million are severely food insecure. Despite the severity of the crisis, there are significant information gaps that result in inefficiencies in the design and targeting of humanitarian assistance.
In response, REACH provides a range of information and data services to assist the humanitarian response in Yemen. REACH programs in Yemen are expanding, and provide monitoring, assessment, and information management support across the response. REACH also conducts a range of inter-sectoral initiatives to promote data sharing and holistic, evidence-based programming. REACH products are used by a range of actors across the humanitarian response and are published in both English and Arabic.

FIRST 100 DAYS OF THE UKRAINE WAR As conflict in Ukraine continues, the gravity of the humanitarian situation is clear. IMPACT Initiatives, notably via its REACH, AGORA, and PANDA initiatives, is increasingly committing research efforts to inform the aid community on how to tackle climate risk. The objective? To identify evidence-based solutions that can be applied in fragile contexts to strengthen the resilience of communities. How? By conducting scientifically robust risk assessments, working with local actors to develop a better understanding of risk, and building local analytical and communication capacities.

In March 2020 the Ugandan government took quick action to prevent the spread of COVID-19 across its borders. However, the recommended preventative behaviors were not met with broad acceptance in Uganda. IMPACT Initiative, as part of its participation to the U-Learn consortium, conducted a mixed-methods assessment to understand why.
To support aid organizations and local partners in putting this concept into practice, IMPACT Initiatives and partners of the Urban Settlements Working Group released the “Settlements Approach Guidance Note” in December 2020.
