The ongoing conflict in Sudan has displaced thousands of families, many of whom have sought refuge in Ed Damazin, Blue Nile State. To understand their priorities and intentions, IMPACT Initiatives via its REACH initiative in collaboration with the Site Management Cluster Sudan conducted a Movement Intentions and Rapid Needs Assessment. The findings provide critical insights into the challenges faced by internally displaced persons (IDPs) and offer guidance for targeted humanitarian responses.

97% of households identify food as their top priority, reflecting widespread food insecurity among displaced populations. 79% prefer cash assistance for its flexibility in addressing urgent and diverse needs. Safety concerns remain significant, with 42% of households reporting feeling unsafe in the past two weeks. Shelter conditions are worsening, with 77% of affected households attributing this to flood damage, highlighting the need for urgent shelter interventions.

Why This Matters

By centering the voices of displaced families, this assessment ensures that aid delivery aligns with their self-identified priorities. Addressing food insecurity, safety concerns, and shelter needs is crucial to restoring dignity and stability for IDPs in Ed Damazin. At IMPACT Initiatives, we remain committed to providing evidence-based insights that guide impactful humanitarian responses in partnership with stakeholders and local communities.
