In May 2024, based on a collaboration with Internews and CCEWG, IMPACT though its initiative REACH published a detailed report titled “Voices from South Sudan: Affected Communities’ Perceptions on Humanitarian Aid.” This comprehensive report sheds light on the perspectives of affected communities regarding humanitarian assistance in South Sudan. Here are the key messages from the report:

  • 78% of community members felt that the humanitarian assistance provided did not adequately address their specific needs, emphasizing the need for more tailored and responsive aid programs.
  • 64% of the affected populations reported limited access to information regarding available aid and services, underlining the necessity for improved communication channels and information dissemination.
  • 53% of respondents expressed a desire for greater involvement in decision-making processes related to humanitarian aid, pointing to the need for more inclusive and participatory approaches.
  • 47% of the affected communities were unaware of existing complaint and feedback mechanisms, indicating a significant gap in accountability and transparency.

These key messages highlight the critical areas where improvements are needed to ensure that humanitarian aid in South Sudan is effective, responsive, and accountable to the affected populations. For a more in-depth understanding and detailed recommendations, read the full report.
