COUNTRY OVERVIEW
2025 has marked the eighth year of the conflict in northern Mozambique characterized by attacks on civilians and leading to large-scale displacement. In parallel, the country is frequently affected by natural disasters such as droughts, floods and tropical cyclone, destroying infrastructures and disrupting vulnerable populations’ access to services and livelihood opportunities. During the 2024–2025 cyclone season, Mozambique faced three consecutive Category 3 Cyclone, collectively affecting around one million people across multiple provinces.
IMPACT deployed its REACH initiative to Mozambique in the wake of Cyclone Idai in 2019 and has maintained continuous presence since 2024 to support emergency response. In 2026, REACH focuses on supporting the activities of the Rapid Response Mechanism through analytical and information management support and generating evidence on market conditions to guide cash programming.

What is the Acute Needs Analysis (ANA)?The ANA is a humanitarian research pilot project designed to identify populations facing urgent, life-threatening needs. It seeks to bring these populations to the attention of humanitarian decision-makers—especially in contexts where information is scarce or fragmented.
